What is memory care? Memory care, sometimes referred to as Alzheimer’s care, is typically an assisted living or residential care setting that is designed specifically to care for those with Alzheimer’s or other dementia. Any type of dementia requires special care and understanding from the caregiver.
Avalon’s memory care setting includes two cottages, each with eight rooms surrounding a main living area. This small, homelike setting helps to avoid overstimulation and promote social interaction. Avalon’s memory care staff members undergo dementia-specific training, including an introduction to the validation method of communicating.
