Stacy Branch, Memory Care Coordinator
As the Memory Care Coordinator for Avalon Assisted Living Community, Stacy oversees all aspects of the Memory Care Facility called Avalon Gardens. This is comprised two 8- bedroom cottages called the Rose and Tulip. Her role involves direct oversight of the Resident and Medication Assistants and she is ultimately responsible for the well being of our memory care residents.
Stacy has an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development and worked as a preschool teacher for many years until she decided to use her care giving skills with those towards the other end of life. While working at Avalon she was introduced to a cutting edge communication and care giving technique called “Validation”, developed by Naomi Feil. This technique focuses on the reciprocated communication of respect and acknowledgment rather then the traditional poly pharmacy practices used in medicine. Its use can help slow the progression of Alzheimer’s/dementia and even prevent clients from entering into a non-verbal, non-mobile, or vegetative state.
Originally from the Monona/Cottage Grove area Stacy now resides in Oregon with her two sons Andre and Aven. She grew up in a family with 4 brothers and no sisters and claims to get her compassion for care giving from her loving mother. She truly puts her heart into those she cares for both inside and outside of work and her smile can light up a room!
